AT Sciences was founded in 2000 by Richard Simpson, PhD, now an Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Science and Technology at the University of Pittsburgh. Edmund Frank LoPresti, Ph.D., became President of AT Sciences in 2002. In early 2003 AT Sciences moved to the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Oakland is home to Carnegie Mellon University, a national leader in computer science and robotics, and the University of Pittsburgh, a national leader in rehabilitation technology research. Also in 2003 AT Sciences was designated as a Limited Liability Company in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

AT Sciences bridges the disciplines of computer science, electrical engineering, and rehabilitation engineering to develop novel assistive technologies. Our mission is to improve people's quality of life through research and development into innovative technology.
